Marathon City Branch Library  515 Washington St., Marathon, WI 54448  715-443-2775

The Village of Marathon City is served by the Marathon County Public Library System, a department of Marathon County government. The Village built a new library building in 2010, allowing the branch library operations to relocate from a 1,050 sq. ft. space in the Municipal Building to a 3,000 sq. ft. stand alone facility at the corner of 4th and Washington streets.

There was a great deal of community involvement in the design, construction and financing of the new library project. The land on which the new facility was built was donated by the Marathon Area Swim Association and the Raymond and Marie Goldbach Foundation. County Materials Corporation donated the brick and block that makes up most of the building exterior and landscaping materials. Other community organizations and individuals made donations, both large and small, to help furnish and equip the new building. The rest of the building’s $550,000 cost was split between the Village of Marathon City and Marathon County government.

All county residents are eligible to use the library’s many services. More than 16,000 volumes of print, audio and visual material are available at the branch library and more than one million items are available for check-out through the library system. The branch library also has computer work stations for public use and Wi-Fi is available for those with laptop or notebook computer devices. The Marathon City Branch Library is currently open during the following hours.
